Accessible Healthcare for the Deaf: AI-Powered Solutions

FingerDance and CALM International have partnered to improve the healthcare accessibility for Deaf individuals by utilizing FingerDance’s AI-powered sign language models. This collaboration focuses on providing real-time medical information translation, enabling the deaf community to better access healthcare services and mental health support offered by CALM International. Together, they aim to reduce information accessibility inequalities by combining CALM International’s expertise in mental health support with FingerDance’s advanced AI technologies, creating a more inclusive healthcare system where communication barriers are significantly reduced, and mental well-being is accessible to all.

 

Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD) + StarHub Ltd
Testing & integration of ORAN solutions for enterprise 5G use cases

This project focuses on testing and conducting joint demonstrations with the aim of identifying the feasibility of O-RAN in commercial network in Singapore. This will help to accelerate the adoption of O-RAN technologies in mobile networks, particularly to support the 5G connectivity needs of enterprises.

Enabling Real-time Visibility for Goods and Assets

The collaboration was initiated to address critical supply chain inefficiencies, such as losses, damage, and the absence of real-time visibility of goods during transit and storage. Leveraging each partner’s strengths, the Totrak project was born—a cutting-edge solution that combines Toll’s logistics expertise with Tag-N-Trac’s IoT technology. This collaboration aimed to provide Toll’s customers with a powerful tool to monitor their goods and shipments in real-time, including crucial data such as location, temperature, humidity, and shock level.

 

WeavInsight + Infineon Technologies
Precision Monitoring for Sustainable Operations

WeavAir and Infineon have collaborated for over two years, integrating Infineon’s high-accuracy sensors into WeavAir’s digital twin software and IoT sensor networks to transform environmental and operational monitoring. This partnership enhances sensor precision by over 30%, enabling real-time tracking of over 20 key metrics, such as air quality, energy consumption, and equipment health. By combining Infineon’s sensor technology with WeavAir’s predictive AI, the collaboration delivers a 20% increase in operational efficiency and a 15% reduction in energy and maintenance costs for customers. This joint effort drives significant value creation across sectors like real estate and transportation.

Making HCLI a Magical Place to Work

The project “Making HCLI a Magical Place to Work” is a collective organizational effort that was launched in May 2024 to significantly enhance workplace culture and boost employee satisfaction. Driven by ideas proposed by employees, this ground-up initiative focuses on various aspects, including mental well-being, streamlining and expanding taskforces, optimizing work processes, and improving overall operations.

The project started as a group challenge to generate ideas and strategies for transforming HCLI into an exceptional workplace. It is centred around the “R.I.C.E.” core values—Relevant, Inclusive, Collaborative, and Energy—that guide our work.

PwC + Me – PwC Singapore’s People Engagement Strategy

Under a backdrop of higher-than-average turnover rate and low employee morale within the professional services sector, PwC + Me serves as a collaborative people engagement strategy to develop a sense of community and belonging to the firm. This initiative seeks to boost morale, productivity, and employee retention.

Built on three key pillars—(i) PwC + Memorable Experiences, (ii) PwC + Meaningful Work, and (iii) PwC + Meaningful Connections—PwC + Me demonstrates the firm’s commitment to a partnership that prioritizes the holistic well-being of its employees. Together with its employees, PwC aims to co-create a vibrant and cohesive workplace where individuals thrive, and the firm excels.

 

Singapore Polytechnic
SP being the Best Place for Work, Play and Personal Growth

With a clear focus on prioritizing staff well-being, the Principal/CEO (PCEO) and his management team initiated the establishment of the Staff Well-Being Committee (SWC) and Staff Interest Group (SIG). The committees comprise of representatives from various schools, departments, as well as from the Union.

SWC and SIG have undeniably instilled a sense of unity, fostered knowledge exchange and shared responsibilities, and actively sought feedback from staff members, which has proven to be of immense value. To date, there are 22 SIGs established, which include sports interest groups as well as others like cooking/baking and Fathers@Work. These SIGs aim to promote a healthy and enriching lifestyle among staff while enhancing the overall employee experience at SP.

A transparent funding policy was devised by HR, with funds allocated and earmarked by PCEO and leadership team to support these initiatives. Today, SP celebrates World Mental Health Day in October by setting aside an afternoon for Let’S Play.

Towards A Sustainable Future

Southeast Asia, including Singapore, faces significant vulnerability to climate change. The initiative aims to equip future generations with essential skills to address these challenges. By fostering collaboration between students and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the initiative seeks to create a sustainable future. With over 200,000 SMEs in Singapore, collective action could significantly reduce carbon emissions. Empowering students and SMEs to take proactive measures ensures a more sustainable future.

 

SMT Technology Pte Ltd + ST Infotech Pte Ltd
Mobile Digital Twin

SMT and ST have partnered to develop a Mobile Digital Twin system that can be accessed via mobile devices and synced over a cloud server. This innovative system allows real-time remote monitoring of machine conditions, tasks, and programs, supporting remote maintenance and swift recovery.

Its standout feature is real-time notifications, which are crucial for unmanned production, ensuring prompt responses to anomalies. This boosts productivity, reduces on-site manpower needs, and shortens maintenance support times through remote access to diagnostics. The system enhances operational efficiency, machinery utilization, and streamlines production processes, offering numerous advantages for more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

Scalable Carbon Footprint Calculation Method

The collaboration focused on developing a scalable carbon footprint calculator for Scope 3 emissions. Researchers from Republic Polytechnic created standardized data templates, formulas, and dashboards to simplify and automate the calculation process across various logistics operations. The tool integrates data from transportation, packaging, and waste streams, offering real-time visibility and insights.

This innovative solution not only helps Toll progress towards its sustainability goals but also provides a methodology that can be easily adapted by other industries seeking to monitor and reduce their carbon footprints.

Applied Total Control Treatment Pte Ltd + Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) + Singapore Airlines
Tech Development for Refurbishing SIA Business Class Seat

This collaboration involves the technology development to refurbish metallized coating of damaged copper trim on SIA Business Class Seats. With limited repair options from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), SIA had to dispose off and replace the trims, resulting in lengthy replacement lead time and waste generation.

To address the issue, SIMTech developed an innovative method to remove the damaged coating and re-apply the metallized coating, restoring the trim’s appearance and durability. The technology was transferred to ATC for mass production, enabling timely delivery of repaired trims to SIA.

This project established a sustainable repair process that minimizes waste while significantly reducing cost and replacement lead times.

 

Geotan Sg Pte Ltd + Power of Solidarity Contracting Company (PSC)
Environmental Emission Control Project

The project involved the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a Tail Gas Analyzer at the Sulfur Recovery Unit to enhance the efficiency of the recovery process to 99.0%. Based on the market research, the Brimstone Analyzer was used as the pilot solution to achieve defined scope objective. The Brimstone Analyzer is manufactured by Galvanic Applied Sciences from Canada.

 

Schneider Electric + L-QuBE Pte Ltd
Empowering Sustainability: Transformation of 30-Year-Old Building to Zero Energy

Schneider Electric (SE) partnered with L-QuBE Pte. Ltd. to upgrade their East Asia Headquarters at Kallang to achieve BCA Super Low Energy and Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy certifications. L-QuBE complemented SE’s Digital Solutions and EcoStruxure technology platform with real-time energy monitoring and consultancy on Energy Management and System Integration.

This partnership focused on reducing the building energy load profiles while maintaining thermal comfort and enhancing the wellbeing of occupants. This collaboration allowed precise energy control, improved system efficiency, and strategic load management, leading to the desired Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy Building certification. This achievement sets a benchmark in sustainable building management in a brownfield environment (ageing buildings), aligning with SE’s zero carbon footprint goals.

Innogrity Pte Ltd (IGT) + LeanCost International Pte Ltd (LC)
Equipment Real-time Product Carbon Footprint (Scopes 1 & 2)

Since July 2024, exporters of certain high-emission goods into the EU are required to provide Product Carbon Footprints. The semiconductor industry is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

To address this, engineers from both sides work together to integrate IGT’s equipment software with LC’s Real-time Carbon Footprint software (called SmartCarbon) via API (application programming interface)

IGT’s equipment will be pre-loaded with this real-time Product Carbon Footprint functionality, thus setting a new industry standard. LC will benefit by this innovative method to market its software product. The plan is that as IGT’s equipment customers become familiar with this automated Product Carbon Footprint technology the software can subsequently be rolled out across the entire factory when the client needs it.

Omni-Channel Retail Transformation for Seamless Experiences

Far East Flora, a household name in Singapore’s floriculture industry, offers the nation’s largest selection of plants and garden accessories. Recognizing the need for modernization, they partnered with Lancia Consult as Business and Technology consultants on their transformational journey.

Far East Flora partnered with Lancia Consult to implement a comprehensive omni-channel solution powered by Edgeworks, including Self-Checkout, “Scan & Go,” a Mobile App, Self-Pick-up, Exit Verification, Preorder, POS, an enhanced eCommerce site, Delivery and Fulfilment Portal, and a Single Customer Loyalty Solution—all integrated with Oracle NetSuite Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to elevate customer experience.

Autonomous Concrete Finishing Robot

With prevalent manpower crunch and rising labour cost faced by the built environment and construction industry, it is critical to transform onsite workflow processes, for higher productivity and safer environment and thus, more sustainable and higher-value jobs. The project, which is supported by JTC, represents a groundbreaking solution in tackling an essential physically demanding concrete finishing job. This pioneering digitalized, autonomous robot features a unique data-centric expert control intelligence software, alongside cost-effective multi-sensory localization. Using a digital twin platform, it enables easy configuration, operation and monitoring of this work process remotely, ensuring quality consistency.
